Welcome to Katharine Altadonna, an online gallery supporting artists and sharing the love of art

For many years, I dreamed of opening up a small art gallery. I wanted it to look like a boutique storefront that I admired in the late '90s, back when I lived in Marblehead, Massachusetts with polished antique wooden floors, bright fresh walls, one welcoming desk to be used for a guest book and to serve cocktails and charcuterie during art openings. It would have had inlaid shelves behind the desk with a large opening in the center to showcase, not art, but an oversized Simon Pierce vase full of my favorite long stem French tulips or fresh flowering branches. For me, living with fine art means owning pieces that you love that live in your

home among the flowers, the books, the pets, the children, the decor; art that gets better every time you look at it and becomes part of the atmosphere of your home. My idea was to have a gallery space that was welcoming and friendly, it is my hope that you feel that way visiting here online.

I have spent the last 20 years (gulp!) in the midwest, raising my three children with frequent visits home to the east coast specifically in Stowe, Vermont and New Preston, Connecticut. My love for the arts and sharing my passion of the arts in education has spilled over into all three of my children exploring their own unique interests in art, theatre, drawing, photography and printmaking. Six years ago, I went back to school at Christie's as a non traditional student traveling from Cleveland at 4:00am on Wednesday mornings to New York City for only 36 hours each week to attend evening classes and to train my eye at art museums in the city and visiting working art studios and art galleries. I completed the Christie's Art Business Certificate Program in November 2014. In 2015, I continued taking Christie's Education classes in Art and Law, Contemporary Art, and Global Art Markets while attending art fairs, art lectures and became of member of the POWarts organization. I equally enjoy working with clients looking to buy fine art and with artists looking to sell their art.

Katharine Altadonna was incorporated in February 2020 as an online gallery with a purpose and passion to showcase fine art. With the March 2020 global pandemic outbreak of Covid 19, I believe more now than ever that hosting an online gallery space to help bring artists and art buyers together and to help share in the beauty and light of fine art through these dark times is needed. I am honored to have visited and to know so many artists over the last few years and very honored to have this online gallery space for visitors, collectors, artists, students and friends. It is my goal that you will find inspirations of joy, hope and peace when you visit katharinealtadonna.com and come back often to see new works! Reach out at anytime with questions or comments to katie@katharinealtadonna.com.

Stay Safe and Healthy!

P.S. This is one of my favorite art works hanging in my home. A commissioned piece from 2008 of my two oldest children, painted by the lovely and talented Kate Geraci Brown. It captures my children's personalities perfectly in my gardens with my daughter's fairy dress and bow catching butterflies and my son's love of his animals as he holds a Rhode Island Red chicken from one of our first flocks. The gardens were in full bloom with bachelor buttons, sun drops, yarrow, daisies, day lilies and Japanese anemones. It is a constant reminder for me that my now teenagers, who spend hours on Snapchat and Tik Tok, did grow up outside immersed in nature. This was one of my favorite summers; working in the gardens, planting vegetables with the kids, painting with water colors outside on the terrace, having lemonade and farm fresh egg stands at the end of the driveway. I feel so fortunate to have this painting as a constant reminder of those happy times.
